AMMONITE, SEE-SAW FILMS
FILM // EDITORIAL DESIGN // PRIVATE COMMISSION
A restrained, tactile companion piece to Francis Lee’s quietly radical film.

Commissioned by See-Saw Films to mark the release of Ammonite, this small-format photobook was designed as a quiet tribute to the film’s intimacy, sensuality and visual clarity. The cover references the notebooks of palaeontologist Mary Anning, grounding the object in the world of the film without overplaying period styling. Inside, the design is pared back and unfussy – a simple, elegant sequence of stills featuring Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan, presented with ample negative space and minimal intervention. Printed on uncoated stock and quarter-bound bound in cloth with a deliberately lo-fi paper label, the book echoes the modesty of Anning’s lived environment and the visual economy of the film. The result is a viewing experience that is slow, sensual and unforced – much like the film itself.
