NET-DEFENCE, IDENTITY

BRAND IDENTITY // HIGH-SECURITY ENVIRONMENTS // CREATIVE DIRECTION

A strategic identity built on ambiguity, vigilance and restraint.

I led the rebrand of Net-Defence as Consultant Creative Director, developing a high-concept identity that repositioned the firm as a discreet but visionary operator in high-end security. At the centre of the system was a composite image of an androgynous eye – reflecting the world, a symbol of omniscience, ambiguity and watchfulness. Rather than lean into the visual tropes of cybersecurity, I built a language that resisted them. No padlocks. No green code. Instead, the identity drew on epic natural imagery – glacial, cellular, tectonic – to evoke the scale and unpredictability of contemporary risk. The threats we face are environmental, systemic, unseen. 

The identity was strictly monochrome, built for clarity, tension and control. Typography was elegant but assertive. Imagery brought conceptual depth and visual tension, not decoration. Across print and digital, I held the tone taut, serious, high-trust and high-end, while stripping away the noise typical of the sector.

The project spanned strategy, identity, messaging, website and a full suite of marketing tools. I worked closely with the senior leadership team over several years, building a system that was visually rigorous, conceptually sharp and particularly coherent. The brand didn’t outlive the company’s leadership, but the work stands as a fully realised identity system – strategically sound, visually rigorous and built to last.
